What is Ayurvedic Face Massage?

Ayurvedic face massage is based on the ancient therapeutic principles of Ayurveda. Marma points are an integral part of Ayurveda and are the subtle pressure points, similar to points used in acupressure. The marmas are anatomical places on the body, mostly composed of flesh and bones. There are a total of 107 marmas in the body. 37 in the Head and Neck. 12 in the front of the body. 22 in the upper limbs. 14 in the Back of the Body and 22 in the lower limbs.

The Ayurvedic face massage helps to release all the stress-induced toxins from your face and restore it to its natural balance. In addition to detoxifying your face, Ayurvedic face massage helps your facial muscles relax from their contracted state. It removes  stress induced blockages that are present in the muscles and in doing so, also ensures that you feel relaxed and rejuvenated. Regular massage can help to reduce frown lines and make your skin appear healthy and toned. It also stimulates lymphatic drainage and the circulation of blood. In fact Ayurvedic face massage is the most non-invasive and natural face lift that you can have.

The Ayurvedic view of health is in physical, emotional and spiritual well being and that health is maintained by the balance of three subtle life-giving forces or Doshas: Vatta, Pitta, and Kapha each of these three Doshas has a role to play in the body and each Dosha possesses individual qualities.

Treatment

Before the treatment begins you will be given an Evaluation Form to see what Dosha you are. This will determine which oil will be used to balance your Dosha.

The massage is carried out by applying circular pressure, both clockwise and anticlockwise on the specific marma point on the head and face. If you prefer not to have oil in your hair then please let the therapist know before she begins your treatment.
